Planning on being on camera?  Whether you are going to be interviewed by a reporter on location, you’ve been invited to a TV station to speak on air, or you are a TV personality, It is important to know how to be camera ready.

 

One of the best ways to be prepared is to get a good night’s sleep, especially if you are scheduled for a morning segment or live shot. You will feel better prepared and confident about being on camera.

 

Choose clothes that are comfortable, that fit you well and make you feel confident. The camera is sensitive to certain colors and busy patterns and can create technical problems. When in doubt choose solid colors.

 

Studio lights can illuminate thin fabrics and they can suddenly become revealing. You want people focused on what you are speaking about not on your clothes so stay away from flimsy and shiny fabrics. Another important tip is to avoid clothes that have logos or text. The logos and text can also be distracting to the viewers.

 

It is also important to stick with jewelry that is simple and tasteful. Large chunky sparkling pieces of jewelry are beautiful but under studio lights they can also become a distraction and present technical issues for the cameras.
